As a non-profit organization, Williams Lake Skating  Club is run and managed by a group of volunteers and the Williams Lake Skating Club Board. The members of the club (all parents of the skaters) elect other parents to the Board to make decisions about operating the club. Our Annual AGM is where Board members are elected, policies and procedures are set and information on the past years business is provided.  As a parent of a skater registered in the WLSC, you may attend any board meeting you wish, as long as they are not closed.

Our club is sustained financially in several ways:

  • Program Fees - our fees are very low when compared to other small clubs in BC.  Our goal is to keep fees as low as possible, while providing fun, safe quality skating instruction as dictated by our Skate Canada mandate.
  • BC Community Gaming Grant - each year, our Board of volunteers prepares a Community Gaming Grant application to receive funds directed to Non-Profit Sports Organizations.  In the past several years, the pool of money available to BC for these grants has diminished, and so our grant has decreased as well.
Yearly Fundraising - This may seem to be a chore, but our yearly fund raising helps pay for ice time and coaching.  Without this, we would have to raise the fees for our programs.

The Williams Lake Skating Club needs volunteers; we have several major fund raising endeavors throughout the year that require volunteers.  Please contact any Board Member regarding voluntering for the club.

In the past we have hosted Regional Championships.  Competitions are a major source of funds for the club, and require several hours of volunteerism from many people (we host the CNCR Regional Championships every 3 years).
